Governor urges young generation to shoulder responsibility
ITANAGAR, Feb 27: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Gen JJ Singh has said that onus of
preserving the age-

Led by Head priest Gyani Prem Singh, Gen Singh took part in the ‘Kirtan’. He also took part in Ardaas or common prayer. Ragi Jatha from Jalandhar led by Major Singh preformed kitans on the occasion.
As token of gratitude, Naharlagun Gurudwara Singh Sabha Prabhandak Committee (GSSPC) led by its President Sardar Sukvinder Singh Sandhu, Town Planning Director felicitated the Governor.
The committee also presented Saropas (Saffron scarf) to those who contributed towards the Gurdwara including senior architect Dawa Tsering, Sanjay Dawan, Jagdish Singh Joshi and Sikh ladies from Rangapara who performed the Shri Akhand Path.
The programme also included ‘Guru Ka Langar’ or the community feast for participants, guests and invitees. Many people of the community were invited on the occasion, including some from Punjab and many from different parts of the Assam. Apart from this, hundreds of invitees from different communities, religious organizations like Brahma Kumaris, Art of Living, Patanjali Yogpeeth (Baba Ramdev) and personnel and officers of Central Reserved Police Force and Border Road Organization attended the function.

Army conducts national integration tour for Arunachalee children
ITANAGAR, Feb 27: In an attempt to promote the spirit of nationalism and integration
among the children, the Dah Divison of Army is sponsoring a National Integration
tour for 20 young boys and girls from strife-
Tirap district superintendent of police Vikramjit Singh flagged off the tour programme in presence of Colonel Naveen, Vir Chakra, Commandant, 19 Assam Rifles at Khonsa today.
The children hailing from various remote parts of the district including Pongchau, Kolagaon, Dadam, Muktowa, Kheti, Lazu, Kapu, Wathing and Lapnan. will visit historical places like India gate, Jantar Mantar, Red fort, Lotus temple, Qutub Minar, Jama Masjid, Rashtrapati Bhawan, Parliament House, Connaught place etc in Delhi and Taj Mahal, Agra fort and Fatehpur Sikri during the 11 days tour. The children are accompanied by two teachers from their schools, one officer, one Junior Commissioned Officer and one Jawan of the unit during the tour.
While interacting with children, Colonel Naveen, said that this tour will be a new learning experience for them as they will be visiting various places of historical, religious and cultural importance.
The Parents/ guardians and teachers also interacted with Colonel Naveen and SP Vikramjit Singh and lauded them for giving this opportunity to the children. None of the children have earlier visited any place beyond Assam and the exuberance and enthusiasm among them about the tour was noticeable. The beaming and gleeful faces of children said all about the significance of this tour during flagging off.
The National Integration tour will prove to be a new exposure for the youths of remote areas of Tirap district and will help them understand their country better, said a release from the Army.
Tawang, Feb 27: The jawans of 38th Bn SSB Tawang under the Commandant Tsering Dorjai and Asst. Commandant Dr. J. Chakma in association with District health authority conducted 2nd round of Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) Programme at Tawang today. Altogether, 148 children were administered polio drop during the camp.
Apart from polio camp, the 38th SSB Bn. distributed medicines for common ailments like fever, cold, and gastric etc on the occasion.
It may be mentioned here that the SSB jawans had organised a vocational training programme a couple of days back under its civic action programme. The local people lauded the army jawans for their activities for well being of economically backward section of the society.

Tatung calls for cooperation for better infrastructure, education
ITANAGAR, Feb 27: Nyokum, the socio agriculture of the Nyishis was celebrated at Yangte in Kurung Kumey district with great splendor and gaiety amidst people from all villages of Yangte circle on Feb 26.
The All Arunachal President Students Union (AAPSU) President Takam Tatung addressing as the chief guest of the occasion called upon the gathering to uphold the essence of Nyokum with renewed vigour. Speaking on development front, Tatung urged upon the people to cooperate with the authorities for infrastructural developments like the black topping of the road to Yangte, He also stressed on maintaining quality of works while executing the scheme.
‘With proper road infrastructure there will be better education and other facilities’, added Tatung.
Responding to the request of the celebration committee for a community hall at Yangte, the AAPSU president categorically assured of taking up and pressurizing the issue with the local MLA.
Former All Nyishi Students Union general secretary Nilly Likha Tabo speaking as the guest of honour urged upon all to preserve the Nyokum festivity regardless of religious constraints as it affirmed the Nyishi identity. The ZPM Yangte HR Talo, panchayat leaders, officials and public of the area were also present on the occasion.
Earlier, both men and women dressed in traditional costumes performed the Buya dance. The mithun sacrifice, traditional dances by cultural troupes were part of the programme.
The various prizes for the dance, song, football and volleyball competitions conducted as part of the Nyokum were given away by footballer Takam Tayam. For the first time in Yangte, Nyokum was celebrated in such a grand way where people from all villages and the ten gram panchayat segments gathered at a single venue unlike before when it was celebrated in a scattered way.

Society emphasise on language development
Tezu, Feb 27: A general body meeting was organised by Cultural and Literary society of Mishmi (CALSOM) on Feb 26 at Tezu.
The meeting was attended by Patrons Khapriso Krong, Sotai Kri, Soli Kri, senior advisors of CALSOM, members of Mishmi priest association, Mishmi officers, College and University Students.
During the deliberations various issues confronting the Mishmi community of Lohit and Anjaw District were discussed.
At the foremost all the participants stressed that, development of script was the need of the hour, as with phase of time use of local language was diminishing and development of script was the only solution for preservation of Mishmi language and culture. The participants also gave emphasis on documentation of old age tradition of Mishmis which were on the phase of extinction. All the members present expressed full confidence in the new executive body of CALSOM headed by Bajai Pul as Chairman and pledged to give overwhelming support to the programme and policies of the new executive bodies.
Media’s role stressed in promotion of Khadi products

ITANAGAR, Feb 27: To promote Khadi products in the state, the Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) organized a press meet aimed at focusing the role of media in promoting Khadi products and the role of people towards media at the ongoing Zonal level Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) exhibition at IG Park today.
Speaking on the occasion, Arunachal Press Club (APC) President Jarpum Gamlin stressed on importance of media and for its due recognition in the state.
On the poor use of the medium in the state, he said “The economy of the country is dependent on rural products with serious challenge being lack of awareness on how to market the products.” He attributed it to poor understanding of the role of media in the state.
Associate Editor, The Dawnlit Post, V.Ravindran while appreciating the quality of Khadi products said, “Khadi will feed you, brighten your future and will one day make you successful.” He also stressed on the need to encourage all to promote Khadi sector in the state.
Senior Journalist Pradeep Kumar gave a brief perspective of the history and rights of the Press. He said the media doesn’t need arms but needs people as their weapon.
“Nothing comes for free,” he said and threw light on the drawbacks of the media.

ATA for fair conduct of exams
ITANAGAR: Arunachal Teachers Association (ATA) has appealed to the citizens of the state particularly parents and guardians of the students to cooperate with the authorities for free and fair conduct of the ensuing CBSE and AP Board examinations. The ATA also appealed the authority to provide sufficient police personnel to all the centre superintendents for smooth conduct of the examination.

The credit must goes to police, local youths and specially to Assam Police who despite unacquainted with hills, jungle,, & surroundings of the area, took prompt action to undertake the search operation and rescued the victim with cooperation from the local police and people.

The personnel monitoring and supervision constantly by Potom himself till late hours for many days made it possible to widen minimum workable width of the proposed five model roads which is highly appreciable.
Regarding implementation of JNNURM schemes for improvement of all roads, it is clarified that fund allocated under the present JNNURM scheme is limited. Hence, out of more than 100 colony roads of Itanagar, the UD &H, department has taken over around 45 roads of different length from PWD. Out of the 45, 15 roads have been proposed for construction as model roads by the Govt. The eviction for widening of these model roads is being carried out by the district administration presently. It was also decided to improve the remaining normal roads in the existing width. Accordingly, the construction of drainage system and retaining walls etc for normal roads are also being carried out without widening the road. It is also our endeavour to maintain quality and transparency in the implementation of the scheme.

What’s wrong with your newspaper?
Dear Editor,
It was indeed sad to hear about the alleged offence committed by some engineers as published in your daily. And if proven guilty, deemed punishment should be handed out to them. However, I thought it was immature on your part to have used their names, their designation would had sufficed for the news article, not that they are some hard criminals on the loose and are a threat to the society directly. Before that, I also recall you publishing a news article related to lodging of FIR for the same case and the accused handing out his clarification subsequently. I am therefore somehow forced to believe that the same news was just a follow up.
I thought it would not be uncalled for if I remind you that, the jurisprudence in our country is such that no one is assumed guilty until proven so in the court of law. But unfortunately, in our country and specially in our state, the media does not seems to have understood the logic behind it or may be, its the free market economy that is driving it to its lowest ebb of morality. Sensationalism and character assassination seems to be the new mantra.
And off-
But, this I hope you would understand, before calling names give some thought about the impact that your news would have on someone and their near and dear ones. All that I am asking you is to use your discretion more often.

Work culture and Youth
Dear Editor,
We are suffering lots of traffic jam due to renovation of NH-
Equally I would like to draw the attentions of various student unions, specially Unemployed engineers students union of this state. At least they can raise their voice against such poor specifications of works, rather than running door to door of every departmental office for vacancies of posts.
When will the educated people learn to serve this state selflessly? This state is affected by a very dreadful epidemic known as 'deaf and dumb'. Please raise some voice against such in justices.

Silence and Khonsa
Dear editor
Through the columns of this esteemed daily I would like to express myself on the problem going on in Khonsa.
The thing which the people of Tirap can't seem to understand in this time of the bloody clashes in Khonsa is that why is the state govt keeping such a deafening silence not commenting on it let alone taking any action.
The people see no silver lining behind these dark clouds, they seem hopeless and if you happen to ask a person from there about the problem ,they would most certainly say that the problem is here to stay & with the state govt taking little interest it might as well be so. This is so discouraging & disheartening.
The feeling of security has gone to the wind as the security forces just stand as mere spectators when all this clashes go on, as if there is nexus between the security forces and the insurgents. Most of the departments are running without Heads of departments as they are on the run leading to stagnation of all works.
I would like to express my great appreciation to All Tirap Students Union for the work they are doing.
Please keep it up.
In this state of ours it is the student community that has to take up many task otherwise taken up by political parties and public leaders.
